Announcements

Visitors:  Welcome—we are glad you are here!  You are invited to fill out a visitor card, which can be found in the pew holder or obtained from an usher.  Please put the completed card in the offering plate or return it to an usher.  We hope you will stay for Sunday School; we have classes for all ages.  Please join us again!

Baby Bottle Campaign:  Last Sunday baby bottles were given out to families in attendance to take home and fill with change, bills, or a check to support the Ashland Care Center (formerly the Pregnancy Center) and their free, life-affirming programs.  If you were not here last Sunday or would like to take a second bottle, they are on the table in the coatroom.  Our church was given 100 bottles; it would be great to have them all filled.  The bottles will need to be brought back to the church and put on the table in the coatroom by April 4, Easter Sunday.

Adult Sunday School Papers “Power For Living”:  The Sunday School papers for this week have been put in the mailboxes of those that we know stay for class.  (Some of you received photocopies of the original because we ran out).  If you are staying for Sunday School but did not get a paper, or if you do not stay for Sunday School but would also like to receive the papers, please put a note in the “office” mailbox (top row) letting us know that.  (There are index cards on the table in the coatroom to write on).

Building Committee Meeting:  Clayton Krichbaum, Building Committee Chairperson, has called for a Building Committee Meeting on Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m.

Benefit for Ron Gilbert:  Ron is a quadriplegic who lost his home and specially equipped van in a fire in February.  The benefit will take place at the Shreve American Legion on Saturday, March 27, with chicken dinners available by donations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again at 4 p.m. until they run out.  A fund has also been established for him at the Monitor Bank.  For more information, please see John Schweyer.

Water Garden Tour: Pastor Ken and Dianne’s farmhouse is going to be a stop on the July 11 “Water Garden Tour.”  The church’s water fountain is also included in the tour.  If you would be interested in taking a shift from 10-4 to stand at the fountain and share information about it, answer questions, and hand out church material, please speak to Dianne.

PhoneTree Issues:  If PhoneTree is calling your home but not leaving the message, the problem might be with background noise.  If you have the TV or radio on loud, are unloading groceries or doing dishes, or there is a conversation taking place in the background that PhoneTree detects, PT will often wait for a long period of time until it figures out what is happening before beginning the message, or it will simply hang up.  This is also true for people that have reordered their out-going message on their answering machine with noise in the background.  In addition, if you answer the phone with a very quiet, soft voice, PT does not always detect it, thus again it either waits for a long period of time before beginning the message or it hangs up.  Please let the office know of problems you are having so we can try to resolve them.

Recycling:  The Missions Committee received $38.50 for their last delivery of recyclable material.  (From now on when taking recycling to Stanton & Evelyn Atterholt’s house, please put it in the shed across from the driveway instead of the new shed).

Easter Musical:  The choir will be presenting the praise and worship musical of Jesus’ life, “Jesus, the One and Only,” on Palm Sunday, March 28, at 2:30 p.m., and on Good Friday, April 2, at 7 p.m.  This would be a wonderful event to invite others to attend.

Cellar Dweller Sunday School Class:  The class has left the cozy room upstairs and is again dwelling in the cellar.  They began a new study by Max Lucado, “Fearless,” last week.  The class is open to anyone that would like to join them.

Church & Ministry Committee Meeting:  There will be a Church & Ministry Committee Meeting at the church this Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m.  For more information, please see Clayton Krichbaum, Committee Chairperson.

Pastor Ken’s New Sunday School Class:  Pastor Ken will begin teaching a class in New Testament Greek on the Book of John today.  This class, which will meet in the classroom that the Cellar Dwellers vacated next to the office, is open to everyone.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”  Kyra Rush has a part in the musical about the life of Joseph, which will take place at the Mansfield Playhouse on March 19, 20, 26, 27 and April 2 at 7 p.m., and on March 28 and April 3 at 2:30 p.m.  The theater is located at 95 E. Third St.  For ticket information, call 419-522-2883.

Prayer Chain:  If you have an urgent prayer concern on a day & time other than Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9-5, my usual office hours, that needs to be put on PhoneTree as quickly as possible, please call my cell phone at 419-606-0336 instead of leaving a message on the church voice mail—thank you.                                                                           Shelley Geib, Church Secretary
