 Announcements

Visitors:
Welcome—we are glad you are here!  We would appreciate it if you would fill out a visitor card, which can be found in the pew holder.  Please put the completed card in the offering plate.  We hope you will stay for Sunday School—we have classes for all ages.  Please join us again!

Bibles Studies:  Due to Vacation Bible School there will be no youth group meeting (they are helping with VBS), Ladies or Men’s Bible Study.

Mailbox Inserts:  If you are receiving the monthly inserts (Focus on the Family, Church Around the World, Have a Good Day) or the Power for Living Sunday School paper, but would rather not have them, please put a note in the “office” mailbox letting us know that.

Puppies:  Doug and Linda Carnegie have a great “Summer Sale” going on now through the end of summer on seven precious puppies.  You will want to be first in line to receive a FREE, well-bred puppy that is part Beagle, part Black Lab, and part neighbor’s dog.  The puppies will be available for pick up in four weeks.  Don’t delay—talk to them today!

Church Cookbooks:  If anyone knows what happened to the remaining unsold cookbooks, please see Kathy Robison.

Youth Drama:  The teens helping with the VBS drama will be practicing after lunch today.

Prayer & Praise Time:  During Prayer & Praise Time, we ask that you please voice prayer concerns for yourself or for close relations only.  Other prayer concerns can be (1) called into the office for incorporation into the bulletin, (2) written on the back of a visitor card and put into the offering plate for incorporation into the bulletin, (3) shared with your Sunday School class or Bible Study.

Breakfast Food for Hillsdale CARES Kids:  During the month of August, we will be collecting breakfast foods of any kind for the Bread Ministry children as they go back to school.  Please put your donations in the kitchen.  (Please check expiration dates first).  A huge thank you to those that purchased school supplies for ten third graders at Hillsdale Elementary School.

Sunday School Election:  The Board of Christian Education is seeking church members to run for the following positions, which will be elected by the majority of the voting congregation on Sunday, August 29:  General Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Children’s Superintendent, Treasurer, Secretary & Assistant Treasurer, Librarian, Assistant Librarian, VBS Coordinator.  Please talk to Kendra Carnegie or Ellen Black by August 8 if you are interested in running for an office.

Concert by Pastor James:  On Sunday, August 22, during the Worship Service, Pastor James will be giving a concert that will premiere the songs for his next recording project, “Chosen & Forgiven.”  The cost to record a CD is approximately $20,000.  Pastors James and Jenn hope to have 200 people who believe in this vision pledge $100 or the amount that God lays on their heart.  Already ten individuals have pledged to give $100.  During the concert, we will also be taking up a love offering that will go towards the recording of the new CD.  Please invite others to join us for this special service.  Complete information is in the August Newsletter.

For Sale:  There is a stroller and a Pak-N-Play in the basement that are left over from the rummage sale and are available to be purchased.  The stroller is $25, the Pak-N-Play $35, or both for $50.  Please talk to Kathy Robison if you are interested in purchasing one or both.

Announcements & Prayer Concerns for Bulletin & PhoneTree:  I will be on vacation until Thursday, August 12.  The bulletin for August 8 has already been printed.  If you have an announcement or prayer concern that missed the bulletin, please write it down and give it to Pastor Dan.  While I am away, Pastor Jenn will be handling PhoneTree announcements and prayer concerns, including sending them out via e-mail and text.  If you cannot reach Pastor Jenn at home (419-368-3625), please call her cell phone (567-203-2685).  Pastor Jenn will also be checking and responding to church voice mail.    Thank you--Shelley

Rummage Sale Items & Workers:  Hillsdale CARES is having a rummage sale at Hillsdale Middle School in Jeromesville during the Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Days.  The dates and times are Thursday & Friday, August 5 & 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, August 7, from 9 a.m. to noon.  Your donations of clean, good quality items—from small to large, including winter coats and furniture—would be greatly appreciated.  You can take your donations to the school from noon to 7 on Tuesday, August 3, or from 9 to 5 on Wednesday, August 4.  Also, we are in need of people from our church to help before, during, and after the rummage sale.  Please see Lisa Burgess, Ellen Black, or Kathy Robison if you can help.

Answers In Genesis Conference

On Sunday, August 15, we will be having a four-session conference on the origins of God’s creation and the authority of the Holy Scriptures.  Bob Gillespie, with Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum in Kentucky, will be the speaker.  Below are the times and topics for each session.  Please see the August Newsletter for more information.

9:30     The true history of the world:  This talk covers creation, the Flood, and the tower of Babel.  It answers some of the most asked questions.

10:45   The Relevance of Genesis:  This talk explains what compromise on God’s Word has done to America and why Genesis is vital to the gospel message.

6:00     Dinosaurs and the Bible:  This talk centers on questions such as how old is the earth, did dinosaurs and man co-exist……  Bring your children they will love it!

7:30     Creation Evangelism:  This talk explains why people are not listening to the gospel as much anymore and explains how we can witness more effectively in our postmodern culture.  Children in 6th grade and under will have snacks and entertainment in the basement.

*Please come prepared to share a love offering to help defray the costs of the conference.

*Videos, books, and gifts will be available to purchase.
